Trails that honour Country, Culture, and Community

Indigenous Ways exists to support Indigenous communities around the world to lead, shape, and benefit from trail development. We walk alongside communities to ensure trails are more than just paths - they’re powerful tools for cultural expression, environmental care, economic opportunity, and connection to Country.

We also work with government agencies, land managers, and tourism organisations to build stronger, more respectful engagement processes - grounded in Indigenous knowledge systems and collaborative planning.

Central to our kaupapa is:

  • Truth-telling – ensuring Indigenous stories are shared by the right people, in the right place, and in the right way.

  • Workforce development – creating pathways and safe spaces for Indigenous peoples to thrive in the trail and tourism sectors.

  • Community benefit – supporting outcomes across the social, cultural, environmental, and economic pillars.

On this site, you'll find tools and guidance to support purposeful engagement and trail planning. You’ll also be able to connect with members of our Global Expert Network - experienced professionals who can assist with designing strategic, resilient, and culturally grounded trails and experiences across the globe.

Together, we are reimagining trails - not just as routes through nature, but as pathways for Indigenous-led futures.
